An ATEX-approved intrinsically safe communications device has to be designed to the most stringent requirements to ensure that the electrical or thermal energy available in a circuit is insufficient to ignite a potentially explosive mixture of gas & air under normal & specified fault conditions.

Some organisations demand this type of communication equipment, such as the petro-chemical, public safety, emergency services, oil and gas industry and any other area where explosive atmospheres may be encountered.

Higher ATEX GAS protection:
the Professional Series portables are approved to ATEX gas protection classification "IIC" - the highest level of gas protection for non-mining applications. This level of protection enables use in ATEX gas zone 1. (for clarification please call)

Unique dust protection:
at the time for writing, the new Motorola Professional Series portables are the only professional two-way radios to provide ATEX dust protection. This unique level of protection enables use in ATEX dust zone 22. (for clarification please call)

Enhanced battery performance:
LiION chemistry means long talk time (circa 14hrs @ 5:5:90 duty cycle). LiION offers reduced maintenance costs and a charged shelf life of approximately 1 year.

"Mandown" alarm:
enhanced employee safety is provided by a new plug-in option board that automatically raises the alarm when the radio inclines beyond a definable angle or remains motionless for a pre-programmed time period.

Smaller & Lighter:
